We went in expecting a routine check-up with a couple of immunizations, but we were surprised to learn that Dylan has a heart murmur. The doctor assured us that it is not that uncommon and that Dylan's was a grade 2 out of 6 (1 being the smallest murmur, and 6 being the worst). They ended up doing a chest x-ray and an EKG to make sure everything looked okay with his heart, and all was good. They didn't find any issues. They will simply check it again at his 5yr check-up. I'm doing some research of my own though, and am still undecided if we may go to a specialist for a second opinion. I don't want to be overly paranoid, but also don't want to overlook something that could be an issue.
Poor little guy!
In any case, it was not Dylan's best experience at the doctor. He very much disliked the EKG and the removal of all the 'stickers' once it was over. Plus he had to get 2 shots, and they were a little upsetting to him after all the other activities of the morning. Poor guy!
Dylan's 4yr Stats:
Weight 37 lbs. (50th percentile)
Height 41 in. (70th percentile)
Blood Pressure 95/64
