Dylan turned 8 in 2013, which just sounds crazy to me! 8 sounds SO grown-up, and well - I guess it is. :-) This year was his first 'sleepover' party. Dylan decided he wanted to invite over some of his guy friends rather than having a big class party. This marks the first year that he hasn't wanted to invite more girls to his birthday than boys. He is really starting to develop strong friendships, which is great! The boys did spend a small portion of the night discussing the 'girls' they like though. It was so cute watching them be 2nd grade boys. They were all very sweet - but definitely boys. We finally had to make them go to bed at 2am so we could get some rest. Luckily Avery stayed with Mimi and Pappy - so she was out of harms way. LOL
Dylan went through a full house inspection before the big party. I was told not to hug or kiss him in front of anyone, and all 'baby stuff' had to be removed from his room before any of the boys arrived.
One of the funnier moments of the evening was after singing happy birthday and eating the cupcakes. Most of the boys were all about being as messy as possible. As we all know... Dylan HATES to get messy. He is kind of a neat freak. :) BUT, to my surprise he smashed cupcake - icing and all - right on his face. There was icing dripping down his chin. Then he announced to the boys, "I love to be messy!"
Brandon and I both just looked at each other and laughed out loud. Because - NO he doesn't at all. But, clearly he was in the moment and just enjoying the fun.
Love that kid to pieces!! He is one SUPER special kid.
His 2nd grade teacher recently told us that Dylan was really something special - and she is SO right about that!
Look at that excitement! He got Infinity for Wii for his birthday and all the boys went nuts when he opened it.
Dylan never wears hats... but the night of the sleepover he wore one sideways most of the night... Go Figure?
The next morning, a bunch of sleepy boys slowing made their way down the stairs.
